Our relationship literally started with the roll of the dice. One night while working at Bucksnorts we were shaking dice for stupid bets. It was Jim's turn to place his bet and he said, "If I win we are going on a real date." Needless to say he won and a week later he took me to Prime Quarter in Madison. I think we can both agree that it was one of the worst dates we have ever been on. I think we spoke a total of 10 minutes and most of that was done over who was going to pay the check. After our date we ended up at the Arb and all was normal again!
In 2006 Jim made the decision to move to North Carolina for work. He asked me several times to come with him, but I would say no. Finally, one night while we were up in the Dells I told him, "I will move with you if you sing karaoke for me." Anyone who knows Jim knows he would never sing karaoke, but he was willing to sing that night for me. In the end I didn’t make him sing and not long after we planted new roots in North Carolina.
On March 3, 2012 Jim asked me to marry him. I knew it was coming because a month prior Jim took me to a jewelery store and said, "Pick out what you would like." It was hard to keep it hush, but we didn't want to announce anything until I got the ring. On the day we picked up the ring Jim asked for it to be boxed up. I was like, "Are you joking, give it to me!" He laughed and said, "No." Once we got in the car he teased me with it. He was shacking the box in my face saying, "Do you want it, do you want it?" Finally, after my whining, he took it out and asked me to marry him. The entire thing was perfect! I did tell Jim that my next husband would get down on one knee, Just Kidding!!! |
